“When you are joyous, look deep into
your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that
is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in
truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”
-Khalil Gibran
It’s finally
September! When I close my eyes and think of this month, I see a lot of tree
leaves falling to the ground. We don’t really have leaf falling in Egypt, but
still, this is what I picture. September is a tricky month for me, it has one
of my deepest sorrows and one of my best joys.
I used to
celebrate my birthday in September. I wasn’t really born in it, but to the
country, I am. This is actually a generation crisis, not just me. I remember
that day clearly. It was a day after my “fake” birthday, I met two of my
friends to celebrate it. After we finished, I was going back home knowing that
I would finally see my aunt. I was so excited. She was coming back from
hospital that day. When I finally arrived, I heard a voice calling her name,
saying that.. she’s dead.
After that,
I never celebrated my birthday in September ever again. I talked about my aunt
before and I’ll probably never stop writing about her. Was she an angel? Of
course not, nobody is. But she was definitely too good for this world. She was somebody
that gave everyone around her some sort of comfort. She was everyone’s free
therapist. I like to close my eyes real tight and picture her smiling.
Some of my
friends lost some of their beloved ones this year. I did lose two as well. There
is nothing as hard as dealing with loss. You’re living your normal life then
someone suddenly vanishes. Nothing would ever comfort those dealing with loss,
nothing. Specially if it’s someone you see everyday. If you’re reading this and
you recently lost somebody, I’m really sorry for your loss. I’m sure that you
know they are in a better place, but probably you’re still questioning how life
is gonna be without them. You don’t have to think about it, the only thing you
gotta do is to cry when you need to and to let yourself smile when you feel
like it. Don’t force yourself to do anything. I know life is so hard and seems
impossible at this moment, but please give yourself time..
Allowing yourself to cry is healthy. Buying that thing you always wanted but never got is a good thing. Rewarding yourself and being kind to that precious soul of yours is a must. Knowing your worth won’t come in a day and night. Looking for yourself might take years, but the results are spectacular.
Did you know
that September is the Self-Care Awareness month? What about we have a little
challenge together? It’s a 30-days happiness challenge! You know keeping
ourselves happy counts as self-care, right? But, please, if you’re facing
something these days, don’t participate. Live your emotions and don’t force
things.
Tell me if
you’re going to participate in the comments! Also, change the options you're not interested in to something that makes you happy!

Thank you so much for this sharing.. Hope it will encourage people including me through hard times or feel demotivated. Lots of love from Hakim
