To Die Well While Still Breathing

I stare at the sun as it sits. I notice how hard-working the fishermen are, trying to catch everything the mean, wide Mediterranean has to offer. I glance at my heart, the sorrow is slowly fading.

The wide Mediterranean that’s mean and stingy today might change its mind and become generous tomorrow. It can offer someone a huge amount of fish, yet take the life of another’s loved one on the same day. Perhaps antonyms can coexist. Perhaps they’re supposed to coexist.

The good and bad. Happiness and despair. Love and hate. I know they coexist. Because as life gets tougher, I have it in me to hate while I’m still loving, to be happy in the depths of despair, to be calm when everything in me screams, and to die well while still breathing.

And I wonder, if we can have room for all that, how does one not lose his sanity?

True, it is a matter of choice, I hear you say. Yet, even if you choose to be good 95% of the time, there’ll always be that 5% waiting patiently in the darkest spot in your mind.

How does one accept he’s flawed?

Actually, what if becoming the best version of yourself is the ultimate lie of this century; to keep you on your toes in the rat race? Because no matter what you do, it’s not enough. There’s always better. There’s always more. The grass is perhaps greener on the other side, yet I wonder if anyone reached there to confirm it is?

We’re just like the Mediterranean, we have it all, and only less than 10% was discovered.

My head hurts, fellow human. Because if it’s a matter of choice, why do people choose evil? And why does it win every time?

I hope it doesn’t get the best of us...

But if it does — only if it does — I hope you have enough energy to embrace the bad in you. You see, there’s no way out other than through. If your flaws get the best of you at any point in your life, I hope you find enough courage to believe it doesn’t define the rest of it.

Poor fellow human, I’m afraid this is the only way to live. Let the good and bad coexist. Let happiness and sorrow perhaps consume you at the same time.

Yet, please, never hurt another soul, especially yours. And if you do, take accountability. Do not run away. And try not to lose your sanity in the process of becoming, just like the Mediterranean sea.
